Enriched Rats in Rat Disney Land

Enriched Rats in Rat Disney Land

Enriched rats in rat Disney Land
The brothers' episode of inspiration
Engaging Newton's first law of motion.
A&E
--the intervening force between inert bodies
and soulsapping;
bourbon-and-coke highballs
and a future of some kind.
Serendipity in a show about rat brains?
The answer to cognitive staleness—the nova,
a free night’s stay, the courage to approach
the mixish tart. Progress wears lime green
bikini bottoms, exposing us to “no,”
We’re on our way
to new.

To our feet,
To the position where
Inertia takes over
To no roof over our heads
To digging toes into the damp sticky night
To the killdozer in paradise making sandclouds
Sorting butts, garbage, unuseables.
Spitting out the landscape
for a new day.

“It’s like watching ourselves in rat suits.”

Rats in rat Disney land—standing
in the shadow of the Swamp Fox roller coaster.

Starvation + bodysurfing =
Body minus cadaverous flab.

Poindexters to golden boys.
Channel-surfers to vagabonds.
Fireants too close to sacred places.
Bottomless setting sun.

Don’t try this exactly at home.
Handle your fragile ego with soft hands
And ease into change.
But be sure to learn the difference between
Living and living.
