Special Moments

One morning Mom woke me up screaming "Carrie, hurry! Wake up, you're gonna be late for school!" I raced around getting all my things and pulling on some clothes, but then I saw Mom laughing. It was a Saturday and April Fools.
April Fools is always a fun day at our house, we mostly spend the day playing silly, but harmless jokes on each other. My parents have always been able to fool Eva and I; we, however, are not always so successful. For a while they could even fool us simply by saying "Look, there's a purple zebra!' Then there was the one time, the only time that we fooled my mom.
The day began with none playing any tricks; Eva and I were most disappointed. That evening Mom played a few tricks, but mostly we noticed them before anything happened; but since a state of war had been declared, Eva and I decided we had to fight back.
"Eva," I whispered, "do you have any chocolate?"
"Yes" she replied suspiciously and handing me the three Hershey's Kisses that would lead me to victory. Later that evening I melted the chocolate into gooey ooze and let it harden over a piece of artfully sculpted foil. The next morning I craftily laid it on the floor and crept out of the room. A few moments later I heard the desired shriek followed by the "Eew, Girls, one of the dogs pooped on the carpet! Come clean it up please!" I skipped happily into the room, hiding a grin, and picked up the "poop" with my bare hands. Then with a smirk I lifted it to my mouth and licked the chocolate creation. My mom's face switched from shocked, to startled, to worried, to frightened, to totally grossed out. I laughed until I cried and then explained my devious plot.
Needless to say that when Easter came around, and my parents had a chance for revenge, it took my sister and me about a week to find all our goodies. In the course of life some moments are priceless; sometimes these moments are spontaneous, but I've found often you have to make your own.
