Fear of Failure, Fear of All

The fear of all fears
That which all humans fear
To some greater or lesser degree
That when darkness fall
And the clock strikes midnight
All their time have been wasted
And success denied its sweetness
Fear of Failure.

For some, who hunt riches
Or treasures priceless
That fear is that fear
That they stretch out their hands
For that great acquisition
To have it snatched away
Fear to fail to reach their goal.

For some, that great failure
Is invisibility
That when they walk down the street
No one says
"Look, there he is
He is the one,"
Their presence not noticed
Their memories, short live
Fear to fail to be famous.

Others shall fear
That their time on this earth
Be like a pebble in the water
A few ripples here,
A few changes there,
But ultimately no difference at all
No matter that they lived
Their purpose unfulfilled
Fear to fail to be important

All these and more
Things we strive for
Success if we reach
The sweetest of treats
Failure to make is the fear we all hate
