Mouse Escape

Mouse Escape

Nicholas

It was a bright sunny day in Lake City, and most mice would have been finding food out on the streets while most cats took their afternoon naps. For Arlie Waldron's mice, however, this was not an option.

These mice can be counted among the most unfortunate beings on the planet. During their short, fearful existence, Arlie fattened them up, while they formed their own little mouse community. Than, one by one, they were taken from their friends and loved ones to be used as bait in Arlie's snake hunts. Those whom he took were never seen again.

One day, as Arlie prepared to teach the snake hunt to his son, he just happened to select a young, strong, cunning, determined male mouse to use. As the mouse was taken away from its screaming family, they saw a glint in his eye, and they knew that if ever there was a mouse that could get away, it was this one.

As Arlie carried the mouse away, he was bothered by how one moment the mouse was struggling mightily, and the next he seemed to have fallen asleep. But then he thought, what are you worried about; it's a mouse.

As they neared the snake, Arlie took hold of the mouse by its tail and let it dangle there like a worm on a hook. Seizing it chance, the mouse pulled up with its tale and carried itself upwards, and then biting the man carrying him, who dropped him in surprise. Without thinking, Arlie bent over to pick the mouse back up. The snack struck!

The mouse scampered a little ways away, and then stopped to look back, just in time to see the man bite the snakes head off. The act spoke loudly as a testament to the mans rage and insanity. The mouse turned around, as the man dashed inside, and headed towards the street, hoping to find some ally who would help him free the other mice in Arlie's house.
